18 days to go as England prepare for Wembley warm up tonight against Mexico
As the mini heatwave in England basks in its final day and the temperature in the capital tips 29c (84F) the England team are preparing to face Javier Aguirre's men .
There is another friendly for Fabio Cappello's outfit on Sunday May 30 and then that's it until our opener against USA on June 12.
There are concerns ahead of tonight's game against Mexico mainly to do with the poor state of the Wembley pitch. Captain Rio Ferdinand has joined the chorus of players bemoaning the sorry state of England's flagship stadium pitch.
There is already anger and concern and much moaning going on from fans that a pitch can cause such problems. If a player gets injured tonight, because of the pitch, then expect that anger to reach boiling point proportions and demands for non-football events held at Wembley Stadium to be shelved.
There are bound to be plenty of changes in the England line up tonight with Gareth Barry expected to undergo tests tomorrow to see if his ankle ligament injury will stand up enough to take him to South Africa. Fabio has already stated Barry would easily make the 23 man squad cut but if he is not fit then he will not be travelling. Also Darren Bent is the latest addition to the squad to sit out tonight with an injury.
Kick off for tonight's game is at 8pm and can be heard live on BBC Radio 5 Live and watched on itv1.
